Keeping a clean home with pets can feel like a full-time job. As experienced house sitters, we have a few favorite tips for staying ahead of the mess this spring.

Pet bowls are dirtier than you think

We fill them constantly, but how often do we actually scrub them? Pet bowls rank among the dirtiest items in the home for germs. Wash them daily if you can, and consider a second set so one can always cycle through a deep clean.

Pet toys need love too

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to toss your pet's washable toys in the laundry. Drool plus damp fabric is a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. While you're at it, take stock — out with anything they no longer play with, in with a few new favorites.

Mind the hair traps

Pet hair drifts everywhere — under the fridge, on top of lampshades, behind picture frames. Build in a little extra time during spring cleaning to hit the high-volume spots you usually skip.

Refresh the bedding

Look at your pet's bedding with fresh eyes. Is it machine washable? When was it last washed? Replace bedding that's past its prime, and aim to wash what you have every 3–4 months.

A clean home is a happier home for everyone — pets included. If a weekend of deep cleaning leaves you too wiped out to walk the dog, reach out. We've got you.
